The Story of The Guitar.

The Story of The Guitar.

Alan Yentob embarks on a three-part personal journey to discover how the guitar became the world's favourite musical instrument. Beginning with the rise of the acoustic guitar, the series takes him from an ancient Middle Eastern ancestor of the lute, to the iconic guitars draped round the necks of Bill Hailey and Elvis Presley and beyond. You can find these 3 documents still on the net and download them. On the website are a few very interesting videos of fames people explaining how the guitar influenced there lives. http://www.bbc.co.uk/musictv/guitars/video/

How do you get rid of the stage fright ?

How do you get rid of the stage fright ?

I'm in my second year of a academy, learing the classical way of guitarplaying. Every year at the end we have to perform a piece for a public. To play the partitura for yourself is easy, but perform before a large audience ... How to you get rid of the stagefever?

  • stickgang I use to be a Chapman Stick player. Back in 1999 (before I got old and gray) I was a guest of Emmett Chapman at his NAMM booth. Emmett and Yuta are just wonderful people and they gave me a NAMM show pass in exchange for playing at their booth a few times per day. The guy on the left is Greg Howard, one of the best Stick players on the planet.
  • gregandsean At the 2nd Auburn bluegrass festival I taught a mandolin seminar. Here I am with my best student and good friend Sean Robinson. Sean's studying music at Berklee now.
  • gregclinic1smaller This was a fun day. I was teaching a seminar at the Auburn Bluegrass Festival. My seminar was called "Expand your bluegrass vocabulary". I talked about building riff based solos. Each riff is a word in your vocabulary and you would add and swap these words to build your solo.
  • Me_And_Martin I've been called a lot worse names!....I'll take that one! lol
  • Player_Finger_Mod Tuned down to D from the top down. It's got a Baritone sound that sounds good when played fingerstyle.
